Boston real estate is predictably split between condos and apartments for rent or to buy and houses. This is due to the fact that Boston is a largely suburban city, so much of its real estate lies in the greater boston area which is less densly developed than Boston proper. The actual center of Boston is quite small for a major metropolitan core, in both population and geography however, much boston real estate can be located in the major neighborhoods of the city, including the back bay, beacon hill, the north end, the south end and the fenway/kenmore area. For most people these are the areas with the most desireable real estate in boston, and hence the price to rent or buy and apartment or condo here can reflect that high demand vs low supply. Most of the dwellings in these neighborhoods are easily accessible via Boston’s subway, the MBTA (locals simply call it the T) and parking space is at a premium, so automobiles are not ideal for someone interested in living in this type of Boston real estate.
boston property
Some of the most desirable boston property is in its many 4 and 5 story brownstone buildings. A traditionally boston type of property, these buildings are made of brick and compose the mental image most people have of Boston residences, particularly in the north end, back bay, beacon hill and the south end. Often these properties are divided into apartments or condos and can be rented or puchased, some of these are available as an entire multi-floored boston property in the form of a town house, very often these are some of the most expensive real estate properties in boston (if purchased whole) due to their charm and spaciousness, but they can be more affordable and just as charming when a person lives in a smaller apartment-stype property inside one of these buildings. Students often rent or lease one bedroom studio property in buildings like these. Some of the most prestigious addresses in Boston property are in brown stones in the beacon hill section of the city, behind the capital (and on boston’s only remaining hill).
boston homes
While the center of the city is filled with apartment and condo buildings, the next layer outside of Boston has many homes that can be rented or purchased. Boston homes in these neighborhoods can offer more space than real estate in the city center of boston and at more affordable prices. The areas where boston homes are more common include, allston/brighton, cambridge, charlestown, dorchester, east boston, west roxury, roxbury, mattapan, brookline, somerville, and jamaica plain. While these neighborhoods lie further out from the downtown core of boston homes here are very often still easily accessiable via public transportation, either via the T or by one of the cities buses. Many pecies of real estate property in these locales offer things that are nearly impossible to get inside Boston proper, including front and back yards. While many boston apartment dwellers have roof decks or plots in one of the city’s community gardening spaces where they can garden, only in one of the homes in boston (ussually outside of the city) can you actually garden in your own yard.
boston homes for sale
There are many Boston homes for sale, especially in the aforementioned neighborhoods of allston/brighton, cambridge, charlestown, dorchester, east boston, west roxury, roxbury, mattapan, brookline, somerville, and jamaica plain. These boston homes for sale are often for sale because the previous occupant or occupants have decided to move further into the center of the city to real estate more like an apartment or condo in a larger building or brownstone, they (like many people have recently) have left the boston area for warmer and potentially cheaper locations, or the house was previously rented by a group of college students (there are lots in boston) and they have either graduated, moved to another apartment or house in boston, or have moved back to their parent’s home for the summer. Non-student buyers or renters should be aware of this trend in boston real estate and attempt to use it to their advantage. Not only by entering into leases, rentals aor purchases in the off season (not in the late august, early septemper student driven rush) to avoid higher prices inflated by college student based demand, but the move in process can be quite hectectic when you are moving in on the same day as hundreds of thousands of other people, who have their parents, rented uhaul trucks and furniture clogging the streets hallways and stairways of the city.
